Catellani & Smith lights on a restaurant in Istanbul 16.06.2016
The lighting project of Emirgan Sütiş Restaurant in Caglayan (Istanbul) has been developed by Tepta Lighting with Arch. Bilgehan Senel. They were looking for lighting fixtures which could create a cosy atmosphere and the ideal lighting for this large space, and have therefore selected different models of Catellani and Smith lights, to get a perfect and comfortable lighting, characterized by the same gold-colour which dominates the whole place.
In front of the two main gates, hand-crafted suspensions Macchina Della Luce Mod. A welcome the guests with their soft and indirect light, while the brightness of their golden colored leafs filters through the glass ceiling of the venue.
Other Stchu-Moon pendants with a diameter of 80 cm, external black and inner gold finish, have been installed in the bakery area, whose shelves are lit with warm light. The bulbs of Stchu-Moon 02 are hidden behind real spoons, set inside the shade, and this ironic small detail creates such a pleasant harmony with the functionality of the environment that it has made these lamps become one of the restaurant’s icons. At the sides of the doors, different lights belonging to the same collection have been installed to the walls: a couple of Stchu-Moon 05 distinguish themselves for their remarkable half-moon shape. A row of Catellani & Smith’s Malagola pendants are hanging above the whole service countertops, contributing with their elliptical shape to continue the effect of a golden atmosphere.
