Ethimo tells of its special relationship with the sea

Nature and harmony, design and innovation, quality and function. These “pairings” are the inspiration for the collections and projects that express the Italian Way Of Life by Ethimo,
for enjoying outdoor spaces with style, comfort, and casual yet sophisticated and recognisable elegance.

Continuous study of noble and ultra-performing materials, of shapes and new finishes, the study of fabrics characterised by textures that reveal an exceptional feeling of wellbeing typical of indoors, and tailoring attention to every single construction and aesthetic detail, have led Ethimo to define a culture of outdoor living that is based not only on quality of product but also on quality of life.

This has led to a desire to expand towards ever-new ‘horizons’, linked by a thread that reflects a typically Mediterranean lifestyle of harmony, comfort, and being in tune with nature.

Ethimo furniture is the result of observation of nature, of a desire to go deeper into the dialogue with the elements that rule it and attention to the relationship with the landscape, from urban to the most unspoilt.

Seen as an extraordinary scenario, an exciting ‘place’ where furnishings find their natural collocation, the sea has always acted as a backdrop for Ethimo articles. A recurring element
in all the catalogues, with images that suggest different environments and possible product configurations, the sea has inspired moods and a variety of collections over the years. Thanks to its expertise in furnishing maritime environments with solutions that manage to team form and function, Ethimo has also formed a special connection with the nautical world and its spaces.

Many yacht clubs and national and international events have starred its furniture, from the boat shows in Venice and Genoa, and the Cannes Yachting Festival, to the Monaco Yacht Show, as well as important partnerships with some of sector’s major brands, like Ferretti Group, Nautor’s Swan and Cantieri del Pardo, which chose Ethimo for their exhibition stands at prestigious nautical events. But not only. Ethimo mainly takes its collections out to sea as many clients choose the brand to furnish private yachts and boats. Every year, prestigious projects also come about from the various collaborations with important international groups in the pleasure craft industry, like for example, Azimut|Benetti, Ferretti Group or Sanlorenzo Yacht.

And so, from the most exclusive and luxurious private havens on the water to the giants of the sea: Explora Journeys, the new Gruppo MSC luxury brand with the fleet ships built by Fincantieri, Norwegian Prima and Norwegian Joy for the Norwegian Cruise Line and Silver Moon, Silver Dawn and Silver Nova for Silversea Cruises are just some of the big cruise ships with outdoor areas featuring Ethimo furniture.

Boats and outdoor design intertwine

The link between Ethimo and the sea finds its maximum expression with design of the first collection explicitly conceived for ‘living the sea’ and generating unprecedented outdoor living experiences, all about chilling and sharing, in environments that move on the water.

The result of collaboration with Christophe Pillet, this new range dedicated to the world of boats sees two lines, Costiera and Baia, which with refined fabrics, generous proportions, resistant materials and extremely high technical quality feature different characteristics that are however ‘linked’ by a single mood that makes them perfect for mixing and matching.

Costiera and Baia stem from a desire to transfer on board yachts and large boats, or even indoors to contract environments or the most exclusive yacht clubs, the principles of contemporary outdoor living on dry land to the sea. Ethimo and Christophe Pillet have therefore created a modular flexible lounge collection that manages to summarise the best aesthetics, form and function that ‘usually’ define outdoor projects by Ethimo with the specific technical competences called for by the marine sector for the realisation of safe, comfortable spaces.

The main new entry in the 2023 catalogue, the Costiera and Baia collection in 2024 sees the addition of new accessories studied to make it even more complete and versatile: Baia Lamp, the ‘thread’ of soft pleasant light that fixes directly to the structure of lounge seating to transform
it into ‘places’ for reading or chilling in the evening, Tender, the side table with pull-out shelf that can, when needed, be used as a handy tray, and Isola, generous sized poufs with exceptional tactility, self-bearing, heat-sealed padding to make it waterproof.
