Baudelaire, Broadway and WallPepper® decorate a Hotel in New York 03.07.2017
The Henri Hotel was created in the shadow of the Empire State Building, right in the middle of Chelsea, Flatiron and Gramercy districts.
The typical contemporary style of the Big Apple identifies its fancy interiors, inspired by the Manhattan clubs and luxury.
In this way, the mood of the Henri Hotel is evident starting from the entrance: here the Broadway theatricality is in every corner. The low lights and the wooden furniture guide the guests through dark corridors that emulate the backstage experience, or bring them in restrooms with oversize mirrors and lights that reference the backstage dressing rooms.
“My aim through the design is to make each Hotel Henri guest feel like a star,” says interior designer Marcello Pozzi.
Indeed the elevators have been transformed following this particular mood: the sliding doors have become spectacular scenery flats thanks to WallPepper® that created a very charming, tailor-made and breathtaking covering.
Art and design are important elements in the bedrooms as well, that are decorated following the industrial architectural style of the Chelsea factories, in the former-industrial area of NY.
The “Raw Concrete” graphic is the main element of the rooms: the concrete style is here developed in a horizontal way, with the addition of a very special and unique detail designed expressly for the hotel: a quote by Baudelaire as a real graffiti style, a tribute to the artistic soul of the city.
“We chose the inspiring words of French writer Charles Baudelaire ‘always be a poet’ to adorn the walls and to inspire our guests.” says the designer.
The result is amazing: a wall that deceives the eyes as well as the touch, thanks to the warm and silky material, made by cellulose and textile fibers.
WallPepper® is PVC free, printed with ecological and water based inks, perfect to fit in contract spaces, always in contact with people.
…The wallpaper material as a sustainable canvas, or rather, a screen on which you can fix your own emotion and artistic expressions.
